Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is a wonderful place to take in a little from the past. Located just south of Miami in Coconut Grove, I can’t believe I had not visited until now. Inspired by historical palaces of Europe and set on Biscayne Bay, the estate is a historical landmark and truly a jewel of South Florida. The magnificant home of the late James Deering, an industrialist executive, is surrounded by gardens that are reminiscent of times several hundred years ago. Much of the home still shows the original art and furnishings, where both self-paced and guided tours are available. The gardens are so much to take in, showing an abundance of architectural structures, fountains, and antique & commissioned sculptures. Inside the home is a museum, much like Mr. Deering left it in 1925.
If your wedding plans are in Miami area, and Vizcaya is appealing to you, you and your guests will not be disappointed! Many couples opt for an engagement or wedding shoot on the grounds too, given the Garden’s sprawling beauty — there isn’t a better offer in Miami!
This Sunday afternoon was especially relaxing in the breezy spring air and bright southern sun rays. The gardens seem to go on and on, wrapping around Vizcaya’s grounds that reach all the way to the bay. Photographers and their subjects can be seen at their perch throughout the gardens most days, and this time of year is absolutely the best for them and the many onlookers.
I would be remiss not to mention brides especially love Vizcaya for pictures, and if they are so lucky, their ceremony could find no better venue. Of course you should see for yourself, I encourage you to visit Vizcaya, and in the meantime please do enjoy my visit too!
