His First Day on the Links

Many are the beginnings in our lives, and today Matt had his swing at another, he played his first 18 holes of golf!  Years at the driving range, and so numerous the putting outings it would be impossible to count, Matt is always left wanting more.  If you know him, you know this, he never has enough of anything.  And now after taking in a day at the Grand Palms Golf Resort, he wants more – what a surprise.

Long and Straight

Matt is no stranger to sports where he is above average in all that he tries.  Pitcher, catcher, first & third baseman, he never says no to anything. He naturally loves the excitement of competition, motivated by his desire to always do better.  This tireless energy stayed with him the entire day today, from dawn to dusk he was busy either golfing or talking about it.  Watching his eye’s light-up when he learned we would take the day by golf cart, then the astonished look he gave when his math calculations turned into a blurt out loud, “holy moly this hole is over 5 football fields,” you can understand how this kid is connected — with electricity!

Thank You Putter

Let’s be upfront about today, Matt ran from each swing of the club to everywhere the little white pearl landed, forget about the golf cart, that wasn’t fast enough it seemed.  On one of the last  par 3’s  Matt opted out of our best-ball placements, he recorded 5 strokes all his own, what a fantastic hole.  With the course mostly ours, we finished in just over four hours.  What follows are a few of the more memorable moments, ones where he was caught in the moment, and others, where he celebrated the moment.  The video clip is classic Matt, celebrate when it’s time to celebrate, and do it in style (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcnQ4k3NS1w).  Hope you enjoy Matt’s first as much as he and I did.

Out of the Sand - No Sweat

And keep in mind, Matt arose at 6:20am this day, and “rocked” his first tee shot from the white tees at 7:01am.  This wired kid looked like he was on his third cup of coffee, and had won the super bowl, twice, before he finished this first par 4.
