Kitesurfing, or kiteboarding as known by some, can be an explosive adventure for both surfer and spectator. As the surfer skims along the choppy sea, with spectacular jumps far from the foam below, the aerobatics include flips, twirls, and an unlimited number of free-form antics that is only limited by the imagination, talent, and quite frankly, seeming recklessness, of the airborne enthusiasts. The surface water sport is described as combining wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, and gymnastics into one extreme sport. Kitesurfing uses the power of the wind to propel the surfer to heights, speeds and distances that can be extreme. Kitesurfers have have been clocked at speeds over 50 mph and gone distances over 100 miles. Some of the pictures below show the surfer over 15 feet in the air. In Fort Lauderdale, you see the full spectrum in experience and abilities of men and women surfers of all ages. With the windy days recently, the experience for both surfer and fan can be very exciting. Hope you enjoy some of the sights of this past Friday eve.
